About This Event
In this 2 session online Workshop, you will be introduced to the Insight Approach to Conflict and learn how it can help you listen to understand, calm conflict situations and open pathways to communication. We will meet twice for three hours (with a 15 minute break in the middle) on February 9 and 23, 2021 - so you get a total of 6 hours live training (online) and the oportunity to read, reflect and practice in between. If you do the reading and refelction expercises, we will provide you with an acknowledgment of 10 hours of professional development as this course gives you ample opportunities to practice what you learn and come back to the group with a fresh perspective in day 2.
This Workshop is limited to 20 participants for better learning opportunities. You will be expected to do some reading before we start the course, and in between the two sessions.

Noticing as a skill: When people are behaving in a conflictual manner, what do we notice and how can we be curious, rather than judgmental?
The “activity” in active listening – take what you notice and ask about it.

How transparency increases effectiveness
Explaining your role and types of interventions - transparency
Interpretation and Verification Questions: How do we know the parties have heard and understood one another?
When hope seems lost, how to ask about hopes. How the "Hope Question" can get at motivation and an understanding of relational values at stake.
